About Us

Since our founding in 1971, and inception as American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) in 1989, our engineers, geologists, scientists and technicians have supported construction projects across the Upper Midwest -- from the design phase through project completion, and beyond. We provide the critical investigations, testing, inspection, analysis, and design services that reduce uncertainty and keep your projects on track.

AET specializes in geotechnical and pavement engineering, supported by an exceptional in-house drilling team. Our firm also possesses world-renowned expertise in petrographic analysis, concrete and asphalt mix design, construction materials testing and inspection, and forensic engineering, and our environmental consulting and building technology teams are highly experienced, supporting clients across the US.

We serve clients -- nationwide and around the world -- from 21 offices in 5 states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming).

GEOTECHNICAL: Subsurface exploration, reports, and recommendations; pavement management, pile driving analysis (PDA). MATERIALS: Engineering evaluation and consultation; field and laboratory testing, inspection, observation; quality management; IBC Special Inspections; envelope/roofing. FORENSIC: Failure/distress investigation, historic mortar restoration, condition assessment, materials evaluation, petrography/chemistry. ENVIRONMENTAL: Phase I and II ESAs, air permitting & emissions control, remedial investigations, corrective action design; asbestos and hazardous materials surveys.
