Our next installment of EDI Virtual Book Club, jointly hosted by the ACEC/MN Workforce Development Committee and the MNSEA SE3 Committee will focus on the Rondo neighborhood and the construction of I-94.

Engineers know better than most that our cities and neighborhoods feel the impact of new buildings, amenities, and infrastructure projects. But when Interstate 94 was built, the highway that granted new mobility to so many came at the cost of the Rondo community that had served as a haven for people of color and immigrants since the 1800s.
 
Our ‘books’ for this week include the documentary short Rondo: Beyond the Pavement (free to watch with an Amazon Prime membership) and this entry from the Historical Society’s MNopedia on the history of the Rondo neighborhood.
