Description

Bearing Pads and Expansion Bearings for Bridge and Building Applications: Material characteristics of various types of bearing pads and expansion bearings used for repairs or new construction. Application examples include bridges with standard and specially designed bearings, as well as a heliport at a hospital isolated from the rest of the building.

Foundation Isolation for Buildings and Machines: Topics will include the effects of poor structural support, modal analysis of a structure to determine proper vibration isolation, when is a foundation required to isolate a piece of equipment, isolation of an entire building from its surroundings and isolation of a concrete mass with an installed machine. A short video will show the difference in vibration between an isolated mass and its surroundings.

Thermal Break for Steel Beams and Facades: This portion of the program will outline what is thermal bridging and why would you want to use a thermal break in a structural steel connection. A short video will show a simulation of what happens when a thermal break is installed in a beam.

Speakers: Matthew J. Pladsen, Application / Test Engineer, has been with Fabreeka for several years. He is fully trained in the fundamentals of vibration and shock control, as well as thermal break. He has practical experience in problem solving vibration control issues and is experienced in presenting technical presentations for PDH Credit. Matt has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
